Basketball Match Report Vs Stamford

The second home game for the basketball team saw Oundle winning the ball at the tip and starting with greater momentum. The first quarter was very close and ended leaving the game in the air but Stamford were up by one after getting a three. Our defending in this quarter was slightly sloppy but after a few substitutions and an inspiring team talk we started playing much better as a team. The second quarter was similar but at the end of it we were leading. This was a result of the offensive practices we had done the day before in training. The third quarter saw Oundle playing extremely well and at the end of the quarter we were up seven points. The team was playing with pride and charisma. This was quickly put to an end by Stamford as they took advantage of our fatigue and they quickly picked up some points and before we knew it, Stamford had won the game. This was a positive game as it showed the team everything needed to improve, the training sessions after half term will certainly be suited to these gaps. Overall a brilliant learning experience and something to build on in the first term of the coming year with the first Oundle basketball team being able to train properly as a full sports option. Thank you to Mr Burman-Roy and all the players, especially the U6 in their last match for the school.
