Hope you are well. Below is the match report for both the Whitgift invitational fixture and Bath and Otter cup. It was an extremely successful two days for the swim team. Many school records were broken and many personal bests were set.

On the 29th of February, the Oundle Bath and Otter team (Julian Lee (C U6), Ethan Daugherty (Ldr U6), Alfie Robinson (C L6) and Alex Menshutkin (Sc 5)) travelled down to Whitgift school to compete for the Whitgift invitational cup. This is the second year in a row that Oundle have won the trophy. But the difference is that this year, Oundle not only won the trophy, but also beat the second place team (Whitgift school) by a staggering 21 points. As well as the individual events being won, the relays showed the true difference in speed Oundle had against the others. Winning the 4x50m freestyle relay in a time of 1:51.31, with the second place team arriving 5 seconds later, and winning the 4x50m medley relay in a time of 1:40.99, with the second place team arriving 3 seconds later. In total, 2 school records were broken in this fixture.

On the 1st of March, following a successful fixture down in Whitgift school, the Bath and Otter team (Julian Lee (C U6), Ethan Daugherty (Ldr U6), Alfie Robinson (C L6) and Alex Menshutkin (Sc 5)) competed at the Bath and Otter cup, held at the London aquatics centre. The team were up against the fastest independent schools across the UK and Ireland, and the results were very pleasing.

For the 4x100m Freestyle relay, the team qualified 7th for the finals and finished 7th with a final time of 3:47.24. This is the first time an Oundle Bath and Otter team has qualified for the finals in this event. Alongside finishing 7th, the school record was broken by 12.22 seconds.

Finally, for the 4x50m Medley relay, the team qualified 4th for the finals and finished 4th with a final time of 1:52.20. This is the highest placing any Oundle Bath and Otter team has reached. For comparison, the Bath and Otter team last year qualified 6th and finished 7th with a time of 1:56.16. This shows a staggering 3.96 second drop in time. As well as finishing 4th, the same team’s school record was also broken.
