Match Report :

Local derbies against Oakham are always going to be difficult. There is pride on the line and heritage stretching back years and years. As Mr Raftery detailed to us : Wins vs Oakham are very hard to come by. We won twice today in an excellent result for the Oundle Squash Club. The 1st team avenged their loss earlier in the season ( 2 vs 3) with a well contested and heartful performance to snatch the victory. Even missing 1 player and with closely contested matches throughout, a performance of class and dedication meant that we prevailed to an impressive win. The second team continued the domination this season. Dropping 1 game they executed a near flawless set of performances that keeps their impressive form alive. Moreover, the way in which they conducted themselves throughout this season , not shouting and celebrating but gracefully is a testament to the characters of Oundle school pupils. With the season drawing to a close , it was an incredibly and dare I say , much deserved result from Oundle who have worked tirelessly this year to perfect their own squash but also through their performances for the school. The sweet feeling of re-avenging the early season defeat for the first team was lovely and there was an evident aura of delight. All matches were conducted in a graceful fashion – as always is the case in an Oundle vs Oakham match and today was Oundle’s day. A very successful November afternoon for the club who prepare for the final match with their heads held high from an impressive performance.

Kind Regards,

Jamie Perring
