Match Report :

After the somewhat disappointing performance away on Tuesday, it was not to be the same disheartening afternoon. The 1st team roared to an emphatic win while the newly assembled U16 team continued the domination of the 2nd team with another emphatic victory. Unfortunately, I could not make it a clean sweep of victories yet the team result didn’t look in doubt from the start. A special mention to Philip Tomkinson’s closely contested fixture. He had lost the reverse fixture 3-0 , yet his dedication and drive was evident as he fought to claim a well-deserved victory. Oundle won 28/34 games played today in an excellent showing of clear superiority. Rugby had requested a U16 team to play instead of a second team, and it was lovely to see several players who had not played a competitive fixture before, rise to the challenge and perform as great as they did. I write about it constantly, but it was once again pleasing to see the gantry crowded with the Oundle players to the end supporting their teammates on court. Gracious performances were seen throughout the afternoon and there was a impressive level of mutual respect from both teams despite the landslide victory. Yet fundamentally, Oundle did storm to an impressive win , especially important after the disappointment of Tuesday. While the quality of Rugby opposition was maybe not as strong as previous teams, Oundle could only play the opponents in front of them. And what a set of performances it was to seal a hugely successful afternoon for the Oundle squash club.

Kind Regards,

Jamie Perring
