Match Report :
Unfortunately, today was not to be and Oundle’s unbeaten run came to a end. Despite being spurred on by your presence, it was an unlucky day for the team as we reflect on our first loss. The second team continued their own run of form with an excellent set of results dropping 3 games among the 5 of them. The first team had a nail-biting end. With only seed 3 left, Oundle and Stamford were tied. The final game stood at 2-2 with a deciding set to determine the winner. Despite Will’s best efforts, the game ran away and ended our hopes of an unbeaten season. However, there were plenty of positives despite the disappointing loss. It goes without saying but all the players of both teams demonstrated tenacity, fighting for each point. Traditionally Stamford has been a difficult team for Oundle so we can be proud of our efforts and can count ourselves unlucky not to come away with the win. Oundle students continued to mark effectively and kept the afternoon running smoothly which contributed to a pleasant afternoon. Our frantic run of matches is also paused for now. This gives us a chance to practice and develop weaker points of the games and to prepare for the friendly yet competitive Jesters Game in 11 days. Despite the agonizingly close defeat, it was still another enjoyable afternoon for the Squash Club with all players improving from the start of the term
Kind Regards,
Jamie Perring
