Match Report :

After a noticeable break for Half Term, Oundle Squash club was right back to impressive form. Due to an injury at half term, we were without our number 1 seed Philip, yet it is fair to say we took the disadvantage in our stride and grinded out some results. It was certainly not the prettiest of performances as we were slightly rusty from the break , yet it is a pleasing performance and another win recorded in the book. The first team came away with a hard fought and well earned victory. Oscar Wright held his nerve in the first of the 5 games to claw a victory – proving decisive for the final result. The courts were slightly different to ones we are normally used to – a glass blacking – yet we continued to execute our game plans and hit the ball into the corners. The second team continued to enjoy their excellent run of form with another decisive performance. The second team does change a lot due to injuries and people moving up our internal rankings. However, it is wonderful to see the performances executed by every second team player as they fight for a place in our team. For the second day back at school, to come away with a victory at a local rival was one again an achievement that delights the Squash Club. We look to continue to shake the cobwebs off and prepare for upcoming fixtures. It was once again an enjoyable afternoon that we all profited from.
