Match Report
Oundle School 1st VII vs  Stowe School
On: Saturday, 11 Jan 2020
Venue: at Home

On Saturday the 11th of January the netball 1st team played against Stowe school at Oundle. Being our first game of the year we wanted to start the netball season well, although we hadn’t trained a significant amount together. The first quarter ended with a 12-10 lead to Oundle, with excellent shooting from both Ziyana and Gemma despite the high wind speeds, the Stowe defence was under pressure. In the second quarter the turn overs of our outstanding defence of Amy Hoffman and Izzy Wilson, we were able to secure a 4 goal lead leaving the score at 17-14. Despite the occasional elbows they received from their opposition out of sight of the umpire, both Alice Goddard and Janna Holtby kept their heads high and were reliable getting the ball swiftly from defence through to the shooters. In the third quarter the gap was closed leading to a score of 22 all, promising a nail biting end quarter. With Ms. Comb nervously jumping up and down on the side line, the last quarter was close. It was the incredible defending of both Amy and Izzy that allowed us to secure our narrow win, 27-26. Amy was player of the match with her endless effort and interceptions. With a great start to the season we are looking forward to our next match on Tuesday and continuing preparing for the Regional Finals taking place in Repton during the exeat.
