Match Report
Oundle School Mixed vs  Uppingham School
On: Saturday, 15 Jan 2022
Venue: Away

It was such a foggy afternoon in Uppingham that one could hardly see the blue flags marking the 1.5mile loop around (and up and down) the school's playfields and "Arboreum". We can only hope for more clement weather for the rest of the season, and can certainly say that the toughest of the courses is now ticked off. Not as muddy as usual (which still means extremely muddy), but a change in the course meant an extra Uppingham-size "dip" to overcome. It was a relatively small meet with a total of 31 Senior boys and 20 girls, but perfect to open the season. Eliza and Unne (first ever xc race, with Mrs Brighton's spikes on, which unfortunately didn't prevent a slip/fall) did really well, coming in 3rd and 7th. It was Misha's first race too, coming in 20th. Kai paced himself really well throughout the first 2 laps, plenty left in the tank to gain a few places in the last mile and a half... only to find out there was no 3rd lap. So 9th place with plenty of potential for more on the 29th Jan at Rugby!

Great fun, lots of mud, delicious cookies, back before 4.30: a brilliant first fixture, thank you!
