Match Report
Oundle School Girls-U15A vs  Oakham School
On: Saturday, 15 Jan 2022
Venue: at Home

Last Saturday the U15A girls played a thrilling netball match against Oakham. We played incredibly well for our second match considering we were against an opposition who had already played a term of netball. The score was 24-26 to Oakham which I think, although disappointing, reflects how close the match was. Having lost our GS, Storm stepped up and played very well. We had no substitutions (as the rest of our squad had fallen to covid) but our fitness prevailed and we matched the intensity of the opposition. There was such an intensity to the game that there was a preponderance of battles for the ball and the other team sustained a nasty ankle injury. Both sides played on and the level of netball ameliorated as the competitive edge increased throughout the game. At the end of the first quarter the score was 7-11. By the second, it was 15-18. In the third our centre passes consistently resulted in a goal and our defensive side did well to turnover a multitude of their centre passes to make the score 20-21. Rose as our GK won a well- deserved player of the match as she marked the opposition’s shooters very well. In the last quarter we scored four goals but unfortunately they scored five. There is a lot to take away from this match but overall it was an exciting one to play and a very positive experience for the team.
